Our funder, the Digital Research Alliance of Canada, is hosting lunch and learns over the summer. Join these virtual events to learn about RDM techniques, chat with experts, and meet other researchers and data professionals. There are two upcoming lunch and learns available for you to attend: 1. June 15, 2022. 1 to 2pm ET: Redesigning the FRDR Discovery Interface: Better, Stronger, Geospatial-er From the Digital Alliance Canada website: "The Federated Research Data Repository (FRDR) offers a valuable national discovery service that allows users to search for research data from institutions across Canada in one place. This service was recently upgraded with the addition of Geodisy - a geospatial search tool for data associated with a location. While the two separate platforms each provide powerful discovery capabilities, there was still room for improvement. We realized we could rebuild it. We have the technology. We could make it better than it was. Better, stronger, faster… geospatial-er. Thus, the FRDR Discovery Redesign Project was born. In this lunch and learn, Mark Goodwin will share an update on our efforts to create a platform that seamlessly integrates map-based searching with the existing discovery platform and offers enhanced overall search capabilities for Canadian research data." In preparation for the requirements set out in the policy, the Digital Research Alliance of Canada (the Alliance) Research Intelligence Expert Group conducted a survey of all Canadian research institutions to determine challenges and successes in developing institutional strategies for RDM. In this lunch and learn, Alexandra Cooper and Lucia Costanzo we will present the results from the Institutional RDM Strategy Survey, summarize the state of institutional strategy development across Canada, and discuss how the survey will help to inform the creation of new resources to support Canadian institutions in developing RDM strategies." Welcome to a community of practice (COP) for education data-sharing in research. What is the COP? The COP will facilitate an inter-disciplinary membership, stakeholder engagement, researcher consultations, educational resources, and mentorship of early career professionals. It will provide discipline-specific expertise and advocate for good data stewardship practices across the medical education research field. Membership is not static and includes trainees, early career professionals, and those with RDM interests in adjacent fields. This forum is yours to share thoughts, questions, knowledge, and to connect with other COP members.
